A centre of excellence

10 years ago on 11th April 2009, at the cutting edge of cancer care, the newly built Churchill hospital opened its doors to patients across the world. Since then, the Cancer Centre has helped transform the treatment and survival of patients, not just in and around the south of England, but literally worldwide, through sharing successes and life-saving discoveries.

The revamped facilities are a time warp ahead of World War 2 buildings where patients would previously have received their treatments.   Highly skilled and dedicated clinical teams treat about 1,500 patients a week, blazing a trail, giving us much hope for our loved ones.

Nick Maynard, our Trustee, and Head of OUHT Cancer Services, lead the celebration in the main entrance hall, surrounded by OUH dignitaries, staff, patients and their families.  The cake cutting was an apt and colourful focal point, bringing together the children of our future.  Matt, OOSO Trustee, took a nice slice for the team !

We thank Nick and all the many staff at the Churchill Hospital for putting patients first, and doing everything they can to keep us all  well, with our families and friends.  Thank you !

Kind regards
