OOSO fundraising
Fundraising is an important but secondary priority for OOSO to:
-
help sustain the charity, covering basic fixed costs, and
-
for invest in hospital equipment and activities, enhancing patient care and recovery.
Further details on the fundraising targets and what they will be used for can be found on the OOSO enthuse pages
Making a donation
One-off, monthly, quarterly or yearly donations can be made using the 'Donate' button
(note this button is also replicated in the header throughout the web site)
In addition, if you wish to leave a legacy donation to OOSO in your will then the OOSO in your will document provides details on this
Supporting a specific event
In addition to general donations OOSO members do wonderful deeds to raise funds through specific events. The same button can be used to access these, but please ensure that you scroll down the list of events on the page to specifically select the event you wish to support.
Fundraising Ideas
If you are thinking of organising a fundraising event then the ‘A-Z document of fundraising ideas’ (link this to the document) may provide you with some inspirations, but also feel free to contact as at info@ooso.org.uk
Where the Money goes
OOSO is run by volunteers, who give up their own time to ensure that the Charity operates as best as it possibly can with limited resources.
There is a ‘no expenses’ policy, so volunteers are normally expected not to claim for any expenses incurred. With no salaries paid and no expenses claimed, every single donation received is used to:
-
maintain the Charity, covering running costs, and/or
-
fund donations to Churchill Hospital, in particular the Upper GI Ward and Chemotherapy suite.
Annual running costs typically amount to approximately £2,500 per annum, for example covering things like public liability insurance, fully audited accounts, website fees and charges, zoom account fees and printing costs.
The Charity nominally aims to raise £10k each year through fund raising events and generous donations received. Most years, OOSO exceeds this target, allowing for a budget, over and above running costs, that supports activities benefiting ward staff and patients, and purchases of bits of kit for the ward on request.
OOSO is committed to keeping running costs as low as possible, so to maximise the benefits from generous donations received.
